Welcome to Fabled Crow's Blog

Oooh! An inaugural blog post. How fun. Well, fun for me at least! Welcome friends, and hopefully soon-to-be friends, to Fabled Crow’s blog, Crow Speak. If all goes well, this little spot may have some interesting stuff that’s entertaining to read.

First off, who the heck am I and what am I doing here? I’m Carole, and Fabled Crow is my baby. Some of you may have ordered a candle or some anointing oils from me, either from my old site, The Keeping Room, or from my eBay store. Candles and oils are my favorite things, but they’re not the only things that I do. I’ll wind it back a bit, all the way to the late 90s.

I'm never really this serious, y'all.

Back in the day, I managed a botanica in Orlando. It was such a vibrant little place, and I learned so much while I was there. Immersion therapy is a thing! People from all walks of life came through that door. Some wanted a bottle of Bible oil to anoint their holy book and help them understand it better. Others wanted to buy the ingredients and components for a spell that they had read about. Still others wanted the counsel of the shop’s owner, who was a Santeria priest.

I met and interacted with an explosion of people and personalities, and also various faiths, while I was there. Some of them became close friends. And I am so grateful to have been influenced in some way by nearly all of them. Have you ever felt like a sponge in an environment that was rich with things you desperately wanted to know? That’s how I felt back then.

Thankfully, the shop owner was generous with his time. From him, I learned how to dress and bless a 7-day candle, how to craft spiritual oils, how to steep ritual baths using different herbs for different purposes, and how to create powders and incenses. He guided me to the formularies (basically recipe books) that I use today, and also taught me how to craft my own formulas.

Shift back to the present, and that’s why I do what I do. The metaphysical world drew me in. I never wanted to leave, and so I didn’t.

I hope this blog will give me an avenue to talk about some of the things that I make and sell, and how to use them to get the best possible results. But more than that, I hope it’s a place where you can maybe discover some small thing that you didn’t know, or find a path that you never realized was there. Thankfully, it won’t only be my long-winded self taking up page after page. I am so fortunate to have a wonderful circle of friends, some of whom have graciously agreed to write about their own craft and experiences.

If you’ve found this blog organically and have no idea who I am or what I make, here’s where to find me right now. My Fabled Crow retail site is still under construction, but I’ve had an eBay shop for several years. If I have it in stock, it’s at eBay right now. You can also follow me at Instagram or Facebook.

How’s that for my very first post? Kind of meh, kind of silly, but I think perhaps that’s just me. Thank you for reading, and I do hope that you come back.

Carole
